Women Rights and Religion.

For centuries human society has always followed patriarchal order be it in developed nations, developing or under developed nations.Men have always been given certain privileges as against women either as a matter of practice, discipline or tradition.Even today as we are moving towards the middle of 21st century women folk tend to be segregated when it comes to safety issues.Women till today are provided with separate hostels, toilets, even separate transport, can’t work in night shift in factories and so on.This can or cannot be construed as female discrimination depending on how one looks at this issues.
Of late it has been observed that women are ‘fighting’ for women rights in religious places where they are being either barred or restricted from entry.Shani Shignapur temple,Sabarimala temple and Haji Ali Dargah are being sighted as religious places where women are prevented entry. The argument here is that constitution provides for equality of women in which case why inequality is practiced here by denying them entry. Now,this same argument can be held towards cases mentioned above as well but no one bothers about that. Therefore why only so called religious “discrimination” is a constitutional issue. Its because certain women activists who are pseudo religious and who want to make career in politics are in the forefront of such issues. Those women who are god fearing and deeply religious are not at all concerned about this so called male dominance. This ‘god fearing’ attitude is seen across all three major religions namely Hinduism,Islam and Christianity.
If at all there has to be parity and equality it cannot be achieved by a protest or morcha by handful of women activists.Century old traditions can only be changed by mutual discussion and agreement and that too in the presence of religious leaders and govt officials as has happened in some temples in India.Rules, regulations and traditions are created by religious gurus and pundits centuries ago when the society was living under different order.Today women are almost on par with men across all fields and therefore need to be given the same recognition and respect as men.But for that women should take a holistic view and ask for equality across entire spectrum of society and not confine themselves to religious one. Also if at all there are those who are perfectly ok with the existing practice should also put forward their case so that a middle line could be drawn and an amicable settlement can be achieved.

These issues are issues of belief and faith.Religion per se is in itself a matter of faith and belief. Therefore such issues shouldn’t be dragged in courts as these are not legal issues as no where its documented that such and such is the rule and regulation to be followed in so and so religious place.Let us hope that such issues are settled amicably and after all one can even pray from home.

Barbaric Life in Civilised World.

During religious occasion at my place or for any family function we invite a lady servant who is well known to our family and she stays with us till the function is over.As usual she had come to my place for household chores when suddenly she got a call on her cell. She requested me to drop her at the police station which I did instantly. There she told me quite confidently  to go back home and that she will join us back in an hour or two.She kept her word, came back to us with her husband and continued as if nothing has happened. We too kept quiet and didn’t raise the police issue at all.Meanwhile the husband who was about to leave called me outside the house and we had a brief chat.
What’s the difference between animals and humans apart from physical appearance.Naturally it’s the mindset and the way life is lived. But what will you say when humans behave almost like animals.Sounds nonsense, isn’t it.It happens and happens in a leading slum in Tiswadi taluka. Its a place where no civilised person can step in.Its a dungeon. Its a place where all sort of barbaric activities take place among so called humans who live there. The lifestyle of the people there is totally different. Its a gutter lifestyle. There no one follows concept of husband-wife relationship or of family culture.Any men is free to have a physical affair with any women he feels so.No women therefore has a fixed husband. Therefore no one knows the actual father or the mother of a given child. And when a women who is pregnant doesn’t want a child she is bearing she waits for the child to be born and kills it by herself the moment she delivers it.Brutal isn’t it,but there its normal. Is this not stone age culture.
More often than not the men here are found drunk and in that state they cannot be expected to behave properly forget in civilised fashion. In that height of stupor a drunkard man freely enters any hut or house and physically assaults the woman present there. The woman has no option but to quietly bear all this as the same man will not hasten to kill her in a fit of rage.Such things are considered as routine and have been going on for decades. These people are votebanks of politicians but let us not bring in politics here.
Therefore,an outsider is just not allowed to enter such slums because the moment an unknown face covers about a few hundred metres into the area someone or the other attack him either verbally, physically by either asking  for money or belongings. But there is only one set of people who are free to enter such areas and no one dare touch them and who are they. The Police.Police works on totally different wavelength when comes to tackling these people. They have khabris who give them info on and off.Secondly there are some elements in police who are sexually starved. So what do they do.They come quietly at night with torches and visit huts and jhopdis to just see people having sex and they enjoy the spectacle even by warning those indulging not to stop it.
Police adventurism doesn’t end here. Some senior policemen who are in touch with khabris take sexual favours by bribing the khabris who in turn supply them relatively lesser used ladies(apologies for language) which are picked at night outside the slum area in the dark and dropped back there. This act of senior policemen is than followed and implemented by the young and new police recruits who are mostly on night shift. What’s their modus operandi. They just barge into the slum area in a filmy style at night with their jeep, begin search of hutments and go on picking young girls, pack them in their vehicle after claiming that they are “arrested” on the basis of complaint. They are brought into the police station dead at night at about 1.00AM,made to sit idle on the floor with young policemen staring at them. The girls literally beg to release them.Just than police pretend to have mercy on them and agree to release them.Police tell them to get up,they think they will now be dropped back. That doesnn’t happen. They are taken inside the cell.Policemen than insist on them that if they want to be relieved they should agree to what police tells.Police asks the girls to allow them to touch their breast and have oral sex with them.Poor girls, dead in the night, with no one in police station, have no option but to agree.Police satisfy themselves to the hilt.Than pack the girls back into the jeep and drop them back at the slum at about 3.00AM.
All in all this is the barbaric lifestyle of the slum dwellers and it becomes quite unbelievable for people like us to really agree that such life exists among our own people. While coming to an end of my blog, you people must’ve wondered how I’ve got all this information. Our lady servant’s husband who took me out of the house for a talk told me everything  for over thirty minutes and infact the reason why both of them went to police station was that their daughter aged 16 was picked by police, this time quiet early at 7.00PM,you know for what. They had to bribe the police to release the girl and once done mother came back to my house.
